about

All new and original Argentine Tangos, Milongas, Valses and Chacareras for dancing composed by Alex Krebs and Andrew Oliver.

You notice the album and buy it, thinking to yourself, "huh, that's interesting, not many tango groups are putting out new and original Argentine Tangos." Your curiosity intensifies as the album downloads/cd is shipped. You put it on and feel as though the group has spent time studying the great orquestas of the Golden Age of Tango: Carlos DiSarli, Osvaldo Pugliese, Rodolfo Biagi, Ricardo Tanturi...but you also sense that they are doing something new, something different. You play the album for your friends and family; the ones that don't dance tango are intrigued because it's not jazz, not classical music, but at the same time evokes universal feelings of nostalgia, melancholy, joy, playfulness, love, longing and loss. You play it for friends and family that do dance and they get excited because it is danceable and new. As a DJ you play it at the milongas, initially not sure what kind of reaction you will be getting from the crowd. When the set finishes several dancers come over to the DJ booth and ask you what band it is. You gain instant street credibility by finding something new and unique and true to feeling, flow, and rhythm of any great danceable tango.

We dedicate this album to the great orquestas and dancers of the past that have taught us so much. To the dancers, musicians, organizers and DJ's of today who help keep this art form alive and evolving. And to the milongueros of tomorrow -- may they have their lives enriched by tango and help bear the tango torch.
